*For each individual local planning authority (LPA), the number of s78 appeals, householder and enforcement appeals and the percentage of appeals allowed for the year ending 31st March are available here. The numbers (but not success rates) for some of the other types for the year ending 31st December are available here.

** The average proportion of appeals which are successful varies greatly by type of development. For example, householder development had an average success rate of 37% in 2023/24 whereas listed building appeals had a lower success rate of 24% in 2023/24. See our graph for further detail.

Please note CIL appeal decisions are quite separate and can be viewed on the Valuation Office Agency website. We also do not hold any information about Rights of Way appeals or Common Land appeals.
